So far I feel these edits are my best from the project. I think they are effective because they show strong viewpoints looking above and clear abstract shaping. I decided to edit the photos by bringing out there contracts and adding different lighting. The two top ones I chose to edit in black and white because I think it brings out the shapes more and it also gives a mix of different black shades.
I lastly brightened up the picture so that the background is white and the black becomes bolder, I also added more contrast. I think this makes the photo look much more abstract comparing it to the original. I like this photo because of the interesting viewpoints it has, I also like the fact that the colours are very bold and stand out.

I used the curve tool first, this blacked out the lines which makes it look much bolder which is effective.
Finally I added brightness and contrast to this, which made the picture stand out more. I like this edit because with the bold lines and white it makes it look very abstract and it also has a above view point. Comparing this photo to the original it looks much bolder and darker, by editing this photo it has made it much more abstract.

Lastly I changed the curves, this makes the blacks and whites even more bolder. This also makes the picture look more abstract because of the overhead view point and the interesting shapes, also because of the bold colours. I chose this photo because I like the shapes and knew that by editing it I would be able to make it much bolder. If I could change this picture I would change where I'm standing because the angling of the picture makes it wonky.

I added contrast and then slightly darkened the image.
I then played with the curve tool, this made the sky stick out and make it much brighter and lighter. I think that is effective because it looks more bright and bolder. Comparing to the original this looks much more appealing and the colour was improved.

Final piece
This is my favourite photo out of the project because it shows a clear street view, although it's quite simple there are lots of different things in the shot. When I edited this I went for black and white because it lessens the busyness of all the colours and I also think it's much more effective. I was able to do this by changing the saturation and the vibrance. Another thing I like about this is that some aspects of the photo are dark and some much lighter, I think that is effective because it makes it much bolder and much easier to focus on.
Evaluation
During this project I have researched photographers such as Paul Gonella and Keld Helmer Peterson. There is a clear link in my photographs to there work because they inspired me to take my photos in certain view points and what kind of things to look for. The theme I originally explored for this project was viewpoints. As I developed my work my photographers showed clear abstract style also, so I ended up having a mix of viewpoints and abstract photos. Firstly I was going to theme my project on capturing the moment but I found it very difficult to take this style photo. I also explored doing repetition but I feel by taking viewpoints you have a wider range of photos to take in different places, there is almost always a view point opportunity. I enjoy abstract because I think its very effective and looks really appealing. I have explored a range of media, processes and techniques in this project including contrasting and saturating. I found the technique of curves very challenging and it took me a long time and plenty of patience to make real progress. I am pleased with my final out comes because they represent how I feel about the theme of abstract work. I have chosen to display them in this particular way because its very clear and also you are able to see my step by step process on how I got to my final edit and what tools I used for each one. If I had more time I would like to explore the theme of viewpoints in even more detail by taking photos looking down at things because mostly all my photographs are from a over head view or straight ahead.
