Water Reflection
The original photo.
I then lowered the vibrance and saturation.
I firstly added contrast and brightness.
Finally, I changed the colour slightly. I think this is effective because all the colours are toned down apart from the blue sky which is reflecting in the water, along with a few clouds. This makes reflection stand out more and makes it the main focus of the photograph.
the original photo.
Then turned up the saturation and vibrance.
increased the brightness and contrast.
Finally, I increased the offset and gamma correction. I like this photo because with increasing the brightness and adding saturation to it, it has made the light that is reflecting from the sun stand out more. I think that this is effective because its very obvious and it makes it clear what the purpose of the photo was.

The original photo.
Then I increased the saturation and vibrance.
First of all I brightened the photo and added some contrast.
Finally, I toyed with the levels of the photo. I made the edit like this because the vibrant colours of each thing makes the reflection show up more and brings more attention to it.
The original photo.
Then I brightened up the image.
Firstly I lowered the vibrance and saturation.
Finally, I toyed with the curve to produce this. I like this photo because the gloomy colour with the bright swan in the middle. This is good because there is a many different things going on in this picture and many different reflections, but the brightness of the swan keeps you focused and so the photo doesn't look too busy.
The original photo.
I then played with the hue and saturation.
Firstly, I slightly exposed it and turned down the offset.
Finally, I toyed with the curves, this was useful as it outlined the reflection in the pond. I like this photo because not only is the trees reflection in the pond but the sky and clouds are too. The reflection is very solid and you can easily tell.

Photos inspired by Naoya Hatakeyama
I firstly started by brightening this picture up and added contrast. I then toyed with the levels and exposed it.
I turned down the brightness in this photo and decreased the gamma correction, so the reflection lines are a lot darker clearer.
I turned up the saturation and played with changing the colour to a more purple, the reflection is shown from the light reflecting into the water.
I turned down the brightness and exposed the photo. I then turned up the saturation and made the photograph slightly more green.
I added vibrance to this photo which then made the sun reflection brighter, I also played with changing the colours to a more blue colour.

Shadows inspired by Andre Kertesz

I then used the offset and gamma correction.
Firstly I played with the curve tool,
Turned down hue and saturation.
Finally, I decreased the vibrance which darkened the image. I like this photo because the reflection line are very sharp and clear, there is also nothing else going on in it.
The original photo.
I then decided to turn the image black and white by lowering the saturation.
I firstly turned down the offset , slightly exposed it and added gamma correction.
Finally, I wanted to bring out the reflection lines more so I toyed with the curves.I used these tools to edit this photo because when the image is black and white it focuses more on the shadows and it also brings them out a lot more.
The original photo.
Then changed the photo to black and white by lowering the saturation.
First I slightly lowered the offset.
Toyed with the curves.
Finally, I adjusted the brightness and contrast. the reason I edited the photo I did is because there is a lot going on in this photo, so I tried to outline the reflection lines so that they would stick out from all the other lines.
The original photo.
Again made black and white by lowering the saturation.
Using the curve tool I darkened the reflection, by doing this it makes it much clearer.
Finally, I played with the hue saturation and the brightness. This photograph now looks much more bolder and effective, the reflection lines are also much clearer.
A lot of these edits I have made black and white, this is because these photos are inspired by Andre Kertesz who's photos are all in black and white . This is also because editing shadow work, the black and white contrast brings out the reflection lines and makes it a lot more powerful.

I then exposed the photo and reduced the offset.
I firstly added brightness and contrast.
Finally, I lowered the gamma correction. This image is effective because there is a clear reflection in her eye, almost like a mirror as its so clear. I edited it this way to bring out the dark parts more and it also blends in with the pupil.
The original photo.
I then added gamma correction and offset.
I started by brightening the picture and adding contrast.
Finally, I toyed with the levels. I like that from the angle I took this picture, the camera lens is pointing right on the pupil, which is really effective. I edited it this way because the darker effect made the reflection stand out more.

experimenting with reflection through edits
before being further edited.

Brightness and saturation was added to this edit before I went onto continue to my final piece .
Final Piece
I chose this as my final piece because I think that it really sums up the project. It's a subtle way of showing reflection as the photos separately are not reflection. I think this photo is also well focused and as you can see the birds inside the eyes are clear the rest of the image is a slight blur. I really like the black and white effect because it helps everything blend together, it also gives the photograph more emotion. The dark contrast also helps the black become bolder. This edit was inspired by My Dog Sighs, his paintings are drawings of different things into someone's eyes, showing a reflection of what they see, which I think is what is being displayed here. I edited this photo by firstly, Brightening it slightly and adding to the contrast, I went on to lower the saturation which made it black and white, then I toyed with the levels, which made the whites lighter and the blacks darker which I think is very effective. Finally I exposed the image slightly and made it more vibrant. My favourite thing about this photograph is that it sets a mood and actually has emotion which I think is important to have in a photograph.
Evaluation
I began this project researching a variety of artist and photographers whose work expressed the theme of reflection. I particularly responded to the work of my dog sighs. His work is imaginative and skilful and I was keen to explore how to take reflections in eyes and also edit photos into eyes. I imagined how it would look but unfortuantly I was not as pleased with some of the edits as I could have been so I went onto explore some different ideas, such as using André kertz photographs for inspiration. I really enjoyed doing this because there is a wide variety of photos to take because there are reflections everywhere, although I did find that you could only take these type of reflection photos if the weather is right as shadows are only formed if it is sunny. I have explore a range of media, processes and techniques in this project. I learned how to merge photos together on photoshop using the pen tool and using the opacity and fill effect. I found the technique of merging the images together challenging and it took me a long time and plenty of patient to make real progress. I am pleased with my final outcomes because they represent how I feel about the theme of reflection. I have chosen to display them in a particular way because it shows my step by steps of how I edited it which I think is good because it shows how effective the final edited photograph comes out when comparing it to the original. If I had more time I would like to explore the theme of reflection in even more detail by finding other photographers, and doing more reflection in mirror and window work.
